Me. Sewing… who would have thought? Definitely not my mother in law who bought me my very first sewing machine almost 3 years ago. The poor thing has sat neglected in my closet ever since. Quite frankly I was scared of it. I know what you are thinking… most kids are scared of monsters in their closets. Not me. I was terrified of my Singer. But all that changed the day Garrett started Preschool. He became instant friends with a boy named Nicolas. His mommy, Jeannine is a domestic queen. She cooks, she decorates, she will paint a room and then re paint it until she gets it the perfect shade, AND among lots of other things, she SEWS! She sews beautiful children’s clothing and the love and passion she has for sewing and creating beautiful things just pours out of her. I have been introduced to a whole new world of creativeness and have been so inspired! I don’t think anyone can be around her without catching the sewing bug! I decided to purchase a dress kit as my first sewing project. She thought it would be a great starting place for yours truly. Well I am so happy to say that I DID IT!!! I did it with a lot of sweat, a few tears, and even a little blood (still a sensitive subject. I don’t want to talk about it.
) I could not have done it without her saving the day and fixing the tension on the machine and putting all the loose pieces back where they belong. So thank you Jeannine! I put in a lot of phone calls to her and my mother in law (who is very domestic as well.) Between the two of them I was able to complete the dress. I am in no way, shape, or form, claiming that I have a piece that would win the blue ribbon in the sewing exhibit at the county fair but I am pretty proud of my first attempt! So without further ado… THE DRESS!

Be on the lookout for this dress in some upcoming photos! Oh, and because I am so “domesticated” now I better name drop the fabric designer… These fabrics are from Amy Butler. Now I am off to polish my silver…
