As you might have noticed over the course of the past month the red walls of our dining room have played an important role in many of my shots. That is for two reasons. 1. I get some great light in that area of my house, and 2. I <3 the color. In our last home I begged for a red wall. Just one would have made me happy, but I am pretty certain my hubby was suffering from paint color commitment issues at the time. It wasn’t until we moved here and bought this house that I put my foot down. I insisted on a red wall. I was firm. I got all: “I want a red wall. I will have a red wall.” and to my surprise my hubby said “Ok.” and then he said “But, I want a yellow kitchen.” I was totally ok with that. Yellow is a happy color and I am a happy person, I love happiness, a yellow kitchen was the perfect fit! After all, the kitchen is the heart (belly) of the home, so a happy heart makes for a happy home! The painting began. My lovely red walls (yes, WALLS. I got an entire room in red! SCORE!) were painted, and painted again, and then once more for good measure. Actually it wasn’t for good measure, it was because at the time we didn’t know they had red paint primer and our walls sucked that paint right in so it literally took three coats to get it right. (That “Cabin Red” was tricky to work with.) The kitchen was happy, we chose a yellow with gold undertones. A nice, warm, happy shade. The bulk of the rest of our home was painted in a neutral khaki color (This is where I admittedly have color commitment issues). Everything flowed nicely. I was content. It wasn’t until we had our first guest over that I ever questioned it. That guest being a lifetime Florida resident who pointed out that we had painted our house “in FSU colors” (Florida State University) Oh I had been fooled. Hubby, the FSU fan through and through, had pulled a fast one on me. He pleads the fifth.![]()
Today’s Smiles From the Heart:
Having a snuggle party with my baby girl all morning.
Littleman’s Groundhog day project and song to accompany. It’s adorable! (P.S NOT smiling about the whole 6 more weeks of winter thing though. I’d really like to have a few words with ol’ Punxsutawney Phil.)
Knowing that a dinner playdate with a great friends and their kidlets is on the agenda for this evening.
